not only give guitar masterclasses together; they also build their instruments in their own workshops. Most of the guitars played on the programme are self-made, which makes the musical performance even more convincing. They begann their musical collaboration in 1986. Ever since, they have been giving numerous concerts in East and West Germany, and have often broken local attendance records. They recorded their first CD together in 1990 with works by the classical composer Fernando Sor. Their programme The Guitar and its Hisory, is a humorous version of the development of the guitar and is meant to make experts as well as amatures become better acquainted with the instrument.

 GuitarHistories - The CD

The CD GuitarHistories offers a cross-section of guitar music from the Renaissance (the beginning of notated composition for guitar) up to the 20th century. Both artists play on Original Intruments of the respective eras.

The attentive listener will learn quickly to discern the different instruments. One can ascertain that the music of each epoch forms a symbiosis with the timbre and technical quality of the respective instruments. The tone colours and special effects enliven the music in a way unmatched by the modern guitar.
